Purpose
Lead a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to create market leading concepts and systems for adidas Innovation Technology products Improve brand competitiveness through product and technology leadership
This individual will the lead and actively contribute to the research and development of new technologies and new applications of existing technologies to improve user experience Products include miCoach Pacer Run better with audible coaching miCoach Zone see your heart rate color zones clearly displayed on your wrist miCoach Mobile Integrating mobile technology with personalized coaching
This is a playercoach role and as such the Sr Manager must have experience managing an advanced Research and Development group We are looking for a manager who will actively build prototypes test new ideas and coach and mentor a team
Cross functional partners include industrial design user experience mobile software engineers research and independent engineering firms
Key Accountabilities
Effectively Manage and Develop the Electro-Mechanical Team
* Effectively plan execute and coordinate all electro-mechanical engineering projects and activities of the Electro-Mechanical Team
* Drive technical design execution and programming of all sensory processing and actuating components of intelligent systems
* Manage the team to ensure organizational efficiency through appropriate motivation training and development
* Provide clear targets and project deliverables to ensure project completion
* Manage the budget of the electro-mechanical team
Deliver new product concepts and a vision for the evolution of technology and our products
* Engage with design to create future product concepts grounded in technology
* Provide design with an understanding of technology direction to foster new ideas
Manage innovation projects
* Work with innovation team to develop innovation strategies for ait
* Set project objectives define and document project phases
* Develop products processes monitor engineering and testing
* Use dedicated project resources in the most economic manner
* Ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness of products and technologies
* Furnish tech package transfer to inline
* Act as a technical consultant during and after transfer of the project
Drive technology research and follow up testing

Work close together with all internal and external research and testing partners
*
Evaluate and interpret test results

Carry out experimental research
*
Test the functional characteristics of the products or components and their impact on comfort performance and protection lab - andor wear tests
Prepare concept and product evaluations and presentations
* Set engineering guidelines and evaluate detailed concept plans and structures
* Build a frequent information flow to ait and team management
* Supply legal department with data for product technology innovation process design patents
Establish strategic partnerships
* Develop technology resources and competencies in anticipation of future needs
* Build an effective information network which provides quick access to latest technical innovations
* Travel to internal and external partners to follow up on project work
* Arrange confidential and strategic partnership agreements with external partners in co-operation with the adidas legal department
* Use the competence and experience in electronics engineering programming and robot system design to drive engineering related projects aimed to team needs
* Build alliances with external research facilities UniversitiesInstitutesConsultants
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
* Deep knowledge of sensors electronics and mechanics
* Good knowledge in the field of micro electronics
* Proficient with software applications MS Office MS Project CAD
* Programming knowledge C Assembly
* Ability to provide engineering leadership including ability to managementor team
* Good communication and presentation skills
Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in electronics engineering or a related field
* Previous experience with managing technical projects and electro mechanical systems
* 6 years experience in product development and advanced R & D of electro-mechanical systems
