We are seeking a creative and talentedPackage Designerwith outstanding creative work and a portfolio to show it The ideal candidate should have 5 years of professional background working in package design Candidate must be able to follow a written brief and create on-strategy on trend creative design solutions Experience with and have a passion for consumer product packaging The ideal candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively under tight time frames while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and professionalism Candidate must have the ability to take a project from concept to completion
The primary responsibility of this position is to partner with Product Marketing and Development to work and execute superior brand packaging designs across all customer touch-points This position will Design and work closely with Design Agencies and the Global Retail Manager to ensure that all packaging meets all strategic and marketing brand objectives ensuring brand programs are competitive and meet global brand benchmarks Core to this role is the project management for the development of design copy materials and costs
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Create effective packaging designs by working directly with product and marketing teams to develop compelling solutions including action depictions that explain technology and encourage try-on
* Guide and give direction during conceptual meetings with internal and external teams in strategy development by recommending packaging materials and design aspects based on a products usage marketing and shipping requirements
* Work collaboratively with Retail and Brand Marketing and Product Development Sourcing teams to design and execute packaging that continues the consumer journey and creates a compelling “out of box experience” that builds brand loyalty
* Manage the key relationships with outside design agencies on a project specific basis Monitor agency performance and ensure that projects are executed in line with the overall global strategic plan and are on time and on budget Identify needed areas of improvement as well as successes in improving costs and productivity
* Proactively initiate the packaging process each season with stakeholders to update all brand and licensed packaging needs based on the seasonal calendar and packaging timelines Investigate and procure all data required to develop the designBuild partnerships with internal and external talent photographers copywriters illustrators and production support to ensure consistent brand vision and troubleshoot between all packaging projects
* Maintain Packaging Design and Production Processes and Procedures by establishing all design and production requirements standards timing and action and approval process budget scheduling time and action plans layout reviews internal proofing and final project approvals
* Track manage and provide reports on all packaging projects Maintain accurate overviews of all packaging collateral in order to maintain consistency and ensure adherence to brand strategy
* Research and Define Packaging Trends build individual awareness of competitive marketplace and packaging design trends through research elevating all brand packaging to strategic benchmark levels
* Partner with manager of Color & Trend to establish competitive brand standards and positioning with focus on all packaging brand objectives materials pricing positioning brand differentiation
* Work with materials team on approvals of all brand standards and positioning materials pricing brand positioning Set and communicate trend vision and standards on all national brand packaging
EDUCATIONSKILLS
* BFA in Design or Packaging Design
* A minimum of 5 years design experience preferably in package design
* Experience in Cross Company communication and culture
* Experience managing agencies suppliers printers and quotes as well as managing multiple projects at once
* Experience working with logos brands and marketing
* Experience with 3D rendering a plus
* Proficiency in up-to-date design programs Adobe ESSMac OSX environment InDesign Illustrator and Photoshop
* Keen understanding of the printing process relating to packaging
* Excellent communication skills
* Strong project management skills
* Knowledgeable in the printing process is a plus
* Ability to execute strong sales presentations
