Under direction of the General Manager US Sales directs coordinates and supervises the adidas Golf and Ashworth Sales Team Develops recommends implements and coordinates programs and policies relative to pricing sales market area development and productservice acceptance Develops long and short term plans and strategies for sales and supportive aids necessary for attainment of sales forecast and projections
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities
To oversee all sales of adidas Golf and Ashworth Company products within the Continental USwith regard to sales forecasting market trends and strategies as established by the company in order to assure steady growth and profitability
* To establish and attain yearly sales goals and plans
To successfully hire train and motivate a professional sales staff which can market the companys product in a fashion consistent with TaylorMade-adidas Golfs long standing commitment to quality
* SupervisionDirectly responsible for activities of 3 Regional Sales Managers 1 Manager Golf Management Groups 1 Director Tournaments and is indirectly responsible for 46 Outside Sales Representatives
* Budgetary Responsible for the budgeted expenditures for entire Department including commissions and salaries Responsible for developing sales targets that will deliver the company’s financial goals Also creates and monitors Regional Sales Manager and Sales Rep MDF budgets Responsible for directing the companys sales program consistent with company policies as directed by the CEO President and Vice President and General Manager of North American Sales
* Works with sales and marketing management to study and develop sales and marketing strategies to support selling to national customers
* Maintains effective budgetary controls of sales expenses
* Assists in the development and utilization of the company catalog and products Works with marketing management to develop appropriate product and merchandising support
* Assures the retention and expansion of the retail accounts of the company Makes periodic checks before and after sales to major national accounts Insures that continuing contacts are made and that proper sales services support is provided
* Assists in the development of pricing sales compensation and sales policies
* Responsible for the hiring training and motivating of the sales personnel
* Coordinates sales department with other source departments to develop and implement an ongoing salesmarketing effort
* Coordinates the sales department with other source departments in working toward common goals of the company
* Provides ongoing supervision of sales staff including goal setting and monitoring of production
* Provides superiors with timely and accurate formal and informal reports about status of sales and business Responsible for continual awareness of the golf market trends conditions and the position and nature of competitive programs through review of information from the field or from other sources
* Conducts periodic sales meetings with field and in-house representatives to strengthen Taylor Made Golfs position within the market place
* Works with production and operations to assure timely delivery of quality products and communicates with other departments as they may affect sales This may include product reliability as well as shipping
* Performs other related projects and duties as required or deemed necessary by Senior Management
RELATIONSHIPS & CONTACTS INTERNAL & EXTERNAL
Internal Contact - Senior Management Marketing Inside Sales Credit Shipping and Manufacturing
External Contact - Interfaces frequently with large accounts vendors business sales
Education Training Professional Certification and Work Experience
Bachelors Degree with emphasis in Business Administration Marketing or equivalent
At least 7 years in a Sales Management capacity to include experience with sales in the golf industry specific to apparel and footwear
Experience in recruitment selection and placement of effective sales personnel
Experience in budget preparation analysis and control
OR
Any combination of Education Experience and Training which would provide the level of skills knowledge and abilities required
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Fluent in English ability to communicate effectively oral and written
Knowledge of Profit and Loss elements
Strong administrative motivation and management skills
Excellent knowledge of retail selling with an extensive background in merchandising and retailing in the golf industry
Overall ability to use tact and discretion to achieve goals in coordination with others
Knowledgeable of the current developments in the golf industry
Thorough working knowledge of company policies practices and guidelines
Requires knowledge of the field of assignment sufficient to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility as illustrated above
Knowledge of Taylor Made products and services
Work Environment Physical Requirements
Once a month out-of-town 12 - 15 trips a year to include Trade Shows Regional Meetings Sectional Events Tournaments and to work with salesmen andor large accounts
Ability to work overtime andor extended hours as required or deemed necessary
